Saiful Alam Chowdhury is an Advocate of the Supreme Court, and a Senior Associate at the law firm of Dr. Kamal Hossain and Associates, which he joined in 2014.
Saiful is involved in both corporate matters and litigation. His areas of practice include admiralty, corporate and commercial law, constitutional and administrative law, employment, energy, intellectual property, real estate and property, securities, taxation and telecommunications law.
Saiful advises and represents both local and foreign entities of different sectors and industries and appears regularly before the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, District Courts and quasi-judicial authorities and tribunals including the Customs, Excise & VAT Appellate Tribunal, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission, Labour Appellate Tribunal and Bangladesh Competition Commission. He has been part of teams conducting arbitration. He also advises local and international organisations on banking, insurance and foreign-investment related issues. Saiful specializes in taxation law and conducts professional training on taxation matters. Saiful has also been engaged pro bono in public interest litigation involving access to justice and the right to information, among others.
Saiful writes in the media, and also teaches on contemporary legal and taxation issues.
Saiful completed his LL.B (Hons.) under the University of London (International Programmes) (2013) and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from Northumbria University, United Kingdom (2014). He completed a course in Managerial Communication for Professional Success at the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka (2021). Saiful was called to the Bar from Lincoln’s Inn, London (2014) and enrolled as an Advocate with the Bangladesh Bar Council (2016), and permitted to practise before the High Court Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh (2020).
Saiful is a member of the Dhaka Bar Association,the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Hon’ble Society of Lincoln’s Inn.
